MINISTER ZULU TO PRESENT THE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT BUDGET VOTE

Posted in Stories on 25 May 2021

South Africa is still under Level 1 of the Risk Adjusted Strategy and with mounting concerns about the possibility of the third wave, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will on Tuesday – 25 May, present the Budget Vote of the Department virtually.

The Budget Vote affords the Minister an opportunity to outline the plans and budget allocations for the Department and its entities - SASSA and NDA, for the benefit of poor and vulnerable South Africans who are the hardest hit by the pandemic.

The budget vote will also provide overall plans on what the Department of Social Development and its entities will be doing in the current financial year to deliver on its mandate and to cushion the impact of the pandemic on the poor and vulnerable.

In addition, the budget will serve as a platform for the Department to report back on it successes and challenges in the previous financial year.
