2017 South African Early Childhood Development Awards National Winners Announced

 

The South African Early Childhood Development (SA ECD) Awards, now in their 13th year, awarded a total of R660 000.00 worth of prizes to the winners at a gala dinner held in Polokwane at the Protea Hotel on Tuesday, 11 December 2018. The 34 finalists from all nine provinces were hosted by the Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu. 

 

Among the finalists were participants who won the provincial phase of the awards in the categories of Best ECD Centre and Best ECD Practitioner.  The winners in these two categories are:  

 

Best Publication of the Year

Dikeledi Zulu - Transport and Rhyme (Gauteng)

Lerato Siphungu - Moribo Le Dipina (Gauteng)

Ayanda Hlabisa - Kancane Kancane Sekuyasa (Kwa-Zulu Natal)  

 

Best ECD Practitioner of The Year 

Sekwakwa Kgadi Kate - Amos Mahloana Creche (Limpopo)

Nomfundiso Mdokhwe - Rejoice Day Care Centre (Gauteng)

Puseletso  Judith Malgas - Lapologang Creche (North West)

 

Best ECD Centre of the Year

Diana Davis Creche - Jessie Nonqaba Lukwe (Eastern Cape)

Campus Kids – Antoinette Engel (Western Cape)

Tirelong ECD -  Anna Makgale (North West)

 

Best ECD Programme for children and babies with disabilities of the year

Beauty Malinga – Sunshine Centre Association (Gauteng)

Benita Petersen – LOFOB (Western Cape) 

Nancy NomkhangoRwexana – Masincedane Special Care and Home (Western Cape)

 

Best Non-centre Based Programme of the Year

Thembi Dladla - Sunshine Centre Association Home visit programme (Gauteng)

Makgauta Ratolo – Ntsoanatsatsi Toy Library OVC/ECD programme (Free State)

Julie Hay – Singakwenza Early Childhood Education Outreach programme (Kwa-Zulu Natal)

Carol Dawn Jack - Elgin Mobile Toy Library (Western Cape)

Best ECD Trainer of the Year
